What’s the difference between rumble and buzz?
Motor frequency. Low-frequency motors rumble and the sensation carries into tissue; high-frequency motors buzz and stay on the surface. Buzz feels sharper for the first minute and numbs far faster, which is why the rumbly toys win almost every long session.
Are vibrators for men actually different?
The good ones are shaped differently, not built differently. Glans massagers cradle the frenulum, wands are made to be pressed against anything, and vibrating strokers wrap a textured sleeve around the motor. The motors themselves are the same technology you’d find in any quality toy.
How do I clean a vibrator properly?
Warm water and a mild, unscented soap or a dedicated toy cleaner, straight after use. Fully waterproof silicone toys can go under a running tap; anything with a textured chamber needs to be dried completely before storage, exactly like a stroker sleeve.
What lube should I use?
Water-based, always. Silicone lube attacks silicone toys and degrades TPE sleeves, and oil-based lube is difficult to wash out of anything textured. A good water-based lube costs about $10 and improves every toy in this guide.
Can a vibrator cause numbness?
Temporary desensitisation during a long, high-intensity session is normal and passes. Persistent numbness is not, and it usually means too much intensity for too long: turn it down rather than up, and take breaks. If it doesn’t settle, speak to a doctor.
