PrivacyPolicy

What we collect, what we never collect, and exactly who gets to see it. Written plainly, because this is the last site on earth where you should have to guess.

GDPR & CCPA AwareUpdated 27 Jul 2026

This is a site about products people buy privately. We treat your visit the same way — the bare minimum of data, held for the shortest time that still keeps the site working.

01

Who we are

The Pleasure Reporter is an independent review site. Our address is www.thepleasurereporter.com, and the site is run by one person, not a media group.

We do not sell personal data. We never have, and there is no version of this site where we would.

02

Comments

When you leave a comment, we collect what you type into the comment form, plus your IP address and browser user agent string. Both exist for one reason: catching spam.

An anonymised string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you have an avatar. Gravatar’s policy is available here. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible publicly alongside it. Use a pseudonym if you would rather not be identified — we genuinely do not mind.

03

Media

If you upload an image to the site, avoid images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download any image and extract that data from it.

04

Cookies

Cookies here are small, boring, and mostly about convenience.

Comment cookies · 1 year

If you opt in when commenting, your name, email and website are saved so you do not have to retype them. Decline the opt-in and nothing is stored.

Login cookies · 2 days to 1 year

Only relevant to site editors. Login cookies expire after two days, screen-option cookies after a year. Choosing “Remember Me” extends the login to two weeks; logging out removes them.

Affiliate cookies · set by retailers

Clicking a product link may set a cookie from that retailer so a purchase is credited to us. It costs you nothing and it never changes a verdict — see the Affiliate Disclosure.

05

Embedded content from other sites

Articles may include embedded content — videos, images, posts. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website: it can collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with it, including if you have an account and are logged in there.

06

Analytics & affiliate links

We use analytics to see which reviews people read and where they arrive from. It is aggregate traffic data — page views, referrers, rough location, device type. It is not a profile of you, and we do not attempt to identify individual readers.

Affiliate networks track clicks that leave this site so commissions can be attributed. What they do with that click is governed by their own policies, not ours.

07

The newsletter

Joining the Inner Circle means we hold your email address and nothing else. It is used to send the newsletter. It is never sold, rented, or handed to a brand, and every email carries a one-click unsubscribe that removes you immediately.

08

How long we keep your data

Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so follow-up replies can be recognised and approved automatically rather than held in a moderation queue.

For registered users, we store the personal information provided in the user profile. Users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time, except that they cannot change their username. Site administrators can also see and edit that information.

09

What rights you have

If you have an account, or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, and you can request that we erase it. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Where data is sent for that check, it goes no further.

To exercise any of this, email admin@thepleasurereporter.com. No form, no ticket number — a reply from a person, usually within a few days.
