The Verdict

Lovense Gush 2

An open-ended silicone sleeve that layers steady oscillation with rumbly vibration, worn hands-free on two adjustable bands. The most flexible stroker Lovense makes — provided your sessions fit inside 110 minutes of battery.

What works

  • Oscillation and vibration layered together
  • Lightweight and genuinely wearable
  • IPX7 silicone, not porous TPE
  • Best-in-class companion app

What doesn’t

  • Battery caps out around 110 minutes
  • Band tension takes practice
  • Not silent at full intensity
  • Sealed one-piece design

The short version

Lovense delivers again with the upgraded Lovense Gush 2, an open-ended penis massager featuring a new oscillator that I personally found to be a huge improvement over the original Gush. The Gush 2 is a little bulkier than its predecessor but feels more premium and offers more intense sensations. Coupled with the same industry-leading software that Lovense is known for, the Lovense Gush 2 is a no-brainer at $99, the same price as the original Gush was listed at.

Feel

The Lovense Gush 2 may function almost identically to its original, but the feeling is something different. The Gush 2 adds a second motor which adds oscillation to the mix, an added sensation akin to little drumming on your frenulum. You must have your frenulum right up against the oscillator to get the maximum benefit – and it feels amazing. Some online have stated they they didn’t find a huge difference between the two, so perhaps it depends on how much effect vibration has on you personally, but I found there to be a quite noticeable difference. The Gush 2 feels rumblier, almost as if a tongue is lightly tapping your frenulum at a high speed. With the right patterns, of which there are thousands already online ready for your use, the Gush 2 becomes an incredible edging toy. The Gush 2 is also more powerful feeling than its original, though still lags far behind the Domi 2 in regards to pure horsepower.

As great as the Gush 2, it’s not beyond criticism and there is room for improvement. With the first Gush, I found that the bands were an inelegant way of solving a problem, especially as they were prone to pinching and could cause some serious pain once in a while. The Gush 2 mostly fixes that, it supplies two bands – both of which are easily adjustable – and with its slightly larger size and different wing shape, the pinching issue is gone. However, I do retain that its still a bit of a clumsy way of solving the tightness problem. It works, but it ain’t perfect. When using the bands I find it very hard to do any real stroking, you’re pretty much just attaching it to your penis and letting it do its thing hands-free at that point. Which, to be fair, is mostly how I use it anyway.

Right fit if

You’re looking for a no-fuss, edging frenulum vibrator with lots of variety and low maintenance.

Wrong fit if

You want the most intense hands-free finish Lovense makes — that is the Max 2 — you need sessions longer than 110 minutes, or you’re more into thrusting and stroking rather than hands-free vibrations.

Build

The Lovense Gush 2 comes tidily packaged in a small sleek box and when you lift off the top, the Gush 2 is nestled safely in black styrofoam. Users of the original Gush will instantly recognize that the newer version is larger and when you pick it up you’ll feel that the silicone got an upgrade as well. The Gush 2 uses high-grade silicone and has a beautiful velvety finish that’s soft and smooth to the touch.

Lovense Gush 2

Lovense has done a great job in making the Gush 2 more comfortable and ergonomic. It fits perfectly in my palm and less vibrations seem to resonate through the material and into my hand, which is great for anybody who has carpal tunnel issues that are aggravated by vibrations. The Gush is also comfortable where it matters the most – your schlong – and the new version just feels good from the moment you put it on.

There’s not a lot to dislike with the build quality of the Gush 2. Lovense has done a magnificent job of improving on the shortcomings of a previous product and elevating it to new heights. The only drawback I would mention is that the straps can still be a tedious way of adjusting the tightness, especially mid-use. Lovense did make improvements to this problem with the Gush 2, there are now two straps, and both are now adjustable. This is a marked improvement over the un-adjustable single strap from the original Gush and has completely fixed the pinching problem, which could be quite painful sometimes. However, I still feel like there is a way that this problem could be solved a little more elegantly.

Construction is a single sealed unit rather than a separate removable sleeve, which simplifies things structurally: fewer parts to misalign or lose, and one less seam for fluid to work into. The charging port sits under a flap at the base, and the two included bands attach through the flexible wings moulded into the body. The interior is food-grade silicone with a ridged texture rather than the smoother nubs on Lovense’s TPE strokers, and because silicone is non-porous it should outlast a TPE sleeve comfortably.

Cleaning

This is where open-ended products such as the Gush 2 and the Fun Factory Manta really shine. There is no sleeve to remove and clean, no sleeve to dry, no moisture to worry about. The Gush 2 is IPX7 fully waterproof certified, so run it under warm water and set it to dry – that’s all, folks. It makes having a quick wank sesh as stress-free as it can get.

If you’re new to cleaning your products, or haven’t used medical-grade silicone products, you can find our full sex toy cleaning guide here.

The routine we recommend

  1. STEP 1Rinse under warm running waterTake the whole device to the sink straight after use. The IPX7 rating means you do not have to work around any electronics.
  2. STEP 2Mild toy cleaner, fingertips onlyA mild toy cleaner or unscented soap is plenty. No brushes, no alcohol, no antibacterial gel. Work it through the ridges by hand and rinse until the water runs clear.
  3. STEP 3Pull the bands off and rinse themBoth bands come away from the wings in a second. Rinse them separately if things got messy, then let everything dry fully before it goes back in a drawer.

Features

Controlling the Gush 2 is simple – there is only one button, which functions as a power button (via a long press) and a selector for the various speeds and patterns. The Gush 2 is fully customizable, and even though it comes pre-loaded with some patterns, you can configure these in great detail on the app. As with all Lovense devices, the app is where the Gush 2 really shines. With the Lovense app you can use the Lovense Remote to control the device, record your own patterns, play hundreds of thousands of patterns online, use it for games, etc. The possibilities are almost endless with the Lovense app, which is the industry leader by a long shot. Pairing was fast and stable in testing but to run the Gush 2 from a desktop you will need Lovense’s USB Bluetooth adapter, sold separately, since most PCs lack the right radio. Phones pair over standard Bluetooth with no extra hardware and the Lovense app is very reliable.

Included

  • Lovense Remote app: Independent oscillation and vibration sliders, plus a full pattern editor.
  • Long-distance control: Share a link and a partner can take over from anywhere.
  • Toy and sound syncing: Pairs with other Lovense toys, and reacts to music or ambient sound.

Not included

  • USB Bluetooth adapter: Sold separately, and needed for PC or VR use.

Asked by you

Will it fit me?

The vast majority of people should have no problem with the sizing of the Lovense Gush. If you’re extremely thick you probably won’t need the bands but as the primary focus of the Gush 2 is frenulum stimulation, as long as the oscillation plate hits the right spot you should be fine. For those who want it tighter, the Gush 2 comes with two easily adjustable bands that you can use to modify the tightness.

Do I need to replace the sleeve?

The Lovense Gush 2 does not have a sleeve – it is a open-ended frenulum vibrator, similar to the Hot Octopuss line. The Gush 2 is made of high-end silicone and, as long as you properly maintain it, should be a long term toy.

Can I use silicone lube?

No. Silicone-on-silicone contact degrades the material over time, usually starting as a soft, sticky patch that spreads. Use a water-based lubricant instead.

Is it quiet enough for thin walls?

I found the Gush 2 to be one of the quieter of the vibrating toys and you should be able to get away with it in most situations. It is certainly quieter than the Mox 2, Solace Pro, or Domi 2.

Gush 2 or Max 2?

The Max 2 uses vibrations and air-pump contractions to deliver intense hands-free finishes. The Gush 2 is lighter, wearable, far easier to clean and gentler in character. Buy the Gush 2 for comfort and convenience, the Max 2 for raw intensity and if you don’t a bit more clean-up/maintenance time.
